About BRIGHT

Twenty-two years of showing up for Chennai families

BRIGHT — The Learning Center is a government-recognized institution in Chennai offering individualized therapy, remedial and Montessori education, and structured family support for children with autism, ADHD, and other developmental needs.

Our story

Built around one child at a time, since 2004

BRIGHT was founded in Chennai in 2004 by Dr. Akila Palani, a speech-language pathologist who saw the same gap again and again: families who had a diagnosis, or a suspicion of one, but nowhere that treated their child's therapy, education, and daily life as one connected plan instead of three separate appointments.

Over 22 years, that idea grew into a single campus where clinical therapy, remedial and Montessori education, and schooling through NIOS all sit under one roof, coordinated through one individualized plan per child. We are a government-recognized institution, and our approach has always started with a comprehensive assessment — never a label.

Today, BRIGHT supports children across the autism spectrum, along with ADHD, CAPD, dyslexia, speech and language delay, sensory processing differences, cognitive delay, and other developmental profiles — each with a plan built around their specific goals, reviewed and adjusted with parents every month.

Vision

Empowering children with developmental challenges to lead independent, confident, and socially meaningful lives.

Mission

Providing individualized therapy, education, and family support to help every child develop essential skills, achieve independence, and participate successfully in society.

Governance

BRIGHT operates under the Manickam Valliammal Educational and Charitable Trust, and is a government-recognized institution — meaning our schooling and NIOS registration for Grades 10 and 12 sit within a formally recognized structure, not an informal arrangement.

Recognition

India Book of Records

Our students don't only make progress. Some of them make records.

Student A. Adhithvi alone holds multiple independent records — a result of building on a child's specific strengths rather than overlooking them. Dr. Akila Palani was separately honored with the Women Achievers Award for the Anna Nagar Circle.
